The governors and staff are committed to: providing a purposeful and rewarding early learning environment suitable for the needs of all pupils.
We recognise that parents (or carers) are the child’s first educator. Throughout your child’s time at Sandy Lane Nursery and Forest School we will work closely with you to develop a strong partnership between home and school and to maintain strong links at all times. We believe that education is a two-way process and we value each other’s knowledge, skills and attitudes in the education of the whole child.
Welcome to Sandy Lane Nursery and Forest School
Sandy Lane Nursery and Forest School is a Local Authority nursery school in central Warrington. Our modern, light and airy nursery building is set in extensive landscaped grounds with an enclosed forest area. We provide a high quality and well-resourced, safe, exciting and inclusive learning environment for children, full of stimulating, inspiring learning opportunities.
Our nursery school includes provision for 52 three to four year olds, a substantial number of places for two to four year old children with additional needs and we offer outreach support on behalf of the Local Authority for other children with additional needs who attend other Early Years settings.
We are very proud of our reputation as a lively, dynamic, inclusive nursery school and of the friendly, welcoming and supportive environment we offer. Our emphasis is on active learning through play which meets the individual needs and fosters the development of the whole child. We believe in a close partnership between home and school, valuing the essential involvement of parents and carers.
Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector reports that state-maintained nursery schools provide ‘stronger education provision … Research shows that children … make the strongest progress when settings have highly qualified staff and, in particular, when supported by teachers’
As such, our staff team consists of highly qualified graduate teachers with QTS and teaching assistants all qualified to at least level 3 who work hard to provide an Early Years curriculum of a very high standard.
In line with other Local Authority schools, Sandy Lane is subject to regular Ofsted School Inspections. As a result of our last two inspections (April 2010 and November 2012), Sandy Lane was judged as ‘Outstanding’ and we are considered by the Local Authority as ‘a flagship for Early Years’.
Choosing the right start to your child’s education is very important. We hope that the information on our website will be useful to you in making your decision.
