Garden Room- Big Question - Term 2.2 - How do we know its Spring? 25/26
This half term our Big Question is: “How do we know it’s Spring?”
We will begin by asking the children to share their ideas about spring and creating knowledge mind maps in our Family Groups as a starting point. This will help us to find out what the children already know and what they would like to learn.
We will be using the book Spring by Emily Dufresne to explore the season in more detail and to help us discover the changes that happen at this time of year.
There will be lots of planting taking place in the garden, and the children have already started thinking about what they would like to grow. This will give us opportunities to learn about how plants grow and what they need to thrive.
We will also be learning some new Makaton signs and talking about typical spring weather, noticing how it may change from winter.
During our Forest School sessions, we will go on a Spring Hunt to look for signs of the new season around us.
Early in the term, some eggs will be arriving, and we will be thinking carefully about what might happen to them… 🐣
