Forest school Taster sessions

Forest school offers young children rich opportunities to promote their well-being, self-esteem and confidence in a natural environment. Forest experiences build upon the ways young children learn - being active, gaining first-hand experiences and use all their senses. As they explore and engage in their environment children are able to develop their own ideas, make decisions, solve problems and take calculated risks.

If you would like to learn more about Forest School we offer taster sessions to introduce you to Forest school practice. Whether you are a childminder, student, or work in the private early years sector we can work with you to provide a session to cater to your needs. Please be aware these are Taster sessions only they are not providing Forest school training. Information on Forest school training providers can be found here https://forestschoolassociation.org/

The sessions available are Practitioner and child sessions, Practitioners only session with practical activities, Practitioner session observing one of our school sessions.

The adults only sesions will include information on the following:

Forest school background and principles

Outline of what Forest school training involves

Benefits of Forest school

Risk activity

Den building

Using tools

Time to explore resources

Forest school fire and snack

If you choose to come as a practitioner to observe one of our Forest school sessions you will be able to explore with the children and take part in whatever the children are engaged in on the day.

If you bring a group of children with you for a Forest school session you will be able to fully explore the forest environment and all the areas with the children being able to balance, climb, use the mud kitchen, look for minibeasts, experience having snack around the fire and much more. We will discuss with you beforehand any other activities you would like including depending on the needs of your children.

Please read some of the feedback we have had from Practitioners for previous Taster sessions.
