Rainbow Room 2023 - 2024

Welcome to Rainbow Room! We are Sandy Lane’s specialist provision for children with a range of complex and additional learning needs, between the ages of two and four years. Children who attend Rainbow Room have been referred via a range of professionals to the Sandy Lane Panel and been successful in this application.  More details about the referral process can be found under the 'Key Information', 'Our SEND Offer' tabs .

Our sensory-stimulating environment is accessible by all children, and is carefully tailored to meet the needs of each individual child. Our small ratios, and highly skilled and experienced staff enable us to support children in meeting milestones through magical, hands-on experiences. Every child’s voice is valued, and they are encouraged to communicate in their own way using Makaton, PECs and other appropriate strategies.

We work extremely closely with parents, carers, and other professionals such as paediatricians and Speech and Language Therapists to provide appropriate, individualised plans for each child.

Children attend on a part-time basis of either five mornings or five afternoons totalling 15 hours a week

Session times are:

Morning Sessions 8.30am - 11.30am OR Afternoon Sessions 12.30pm - 3.30pm

We also have a limited number of 30 hour places available, please speak with Janet or Louise in the office if this is something you are interested in

30 hours session times are 8.30am - 2.30pm

Our children access a range of experiences including daily visits to our sensory room, playcourt, sensory cooking, tac-pac, and Teachh.

Here in Rainbow Room we take great pride in the progress that we support our children in making, academically, socially and emotionally.

We have introduced Sensory Circuit into our daily routine which creates calming 1:1 Support through the use of physical activities, sensory experiences and deep pressure techniques that help the children to feel relaxed, content and focused, ready for the day ahead. We also embrace our time in Forest School, enjoying our natural surroundings and taking risks outdoors to develop our confidence and gross motor skills.

Thank you to all of our children and their families for wonderful daily adventures; filled with happiness, incredible achievements and lots of fun!
