A visit from a Policeman

Class: Garden Room Year: 2022 - 2023

Today, we had a special visitor to Sandy Lane; Dean the Police Community Safety Officer.
He talked to us about the important role he plays in the community and how he and his team work hard to keep everyone safe. Dean told us about the different vehicles that the Police use; cars, vans, bicycles, motorbikes and even helicopters!
Dean showed us all the equipment that he has to wear. Some of you noticed he had a radio, an ear piece, a torch, a bright vest and even a camera attached to him. Dean has an important badge which he showed up and this is so he can show people within the community that he is a PCSO. We were allowed to try on some of the Police uniform too. We tried on hats, vests and coats.
Before we finished, Dean showed us how we can take fingerprints. We touched our thumbs onto some special paper with ink on it and then pressed our thumbs onto paper. We were allowed to take these home.
Dean gave us all some colouring in pages to colour in at home.
We all really enjoyed our visit and finding out more about what a PCSO does every day.
