Forest School is back! September 2026!

Lesson: Understanding the World

Class: Garden Room Year: 2026 - 2027

Last week was our first Forest School session of the year, and it was lovely to be back in the forest! The children had a fantastic time exploring, playing and enjoying everything the forest has to offer.

We walked over to the forest and gathered under our shelter, where we revisited our Forest School rules and talked about how they help to keep us safe:

🤲 Kind Hands – We use kind hands with our friends and with the mini beasts that live in the forest.

👀 Good Looking – We look carefully around us as we explore, helping us to avoid trips and bumps and also spot all the interesting things around us!

👂 Good Listening – We listen carefully for our friends calling for help, grown-ups giving instructions and all the wonderful sounds of the forest.

🍄 No Picking, No Licking – We never pick or eat anything we find growing in the forest, such as mushrooms or berries, as they could make us poorly. We only eat the snack that Melody gives us.

🌳 Up to the Sky, Down to the Ground – We remember to hold sticks safely, pointing them up to the sky or down to the ground so we don’t accidentally poke ourselves or our friends.

Once we had reminded ourselves of our rules, it was time to play and explore! The children really enjoyed themselves as they investigated the forest, discovering, climbing, playing and enjoying being outdoors together.

We then gathered around the fire circle for our snack before making our way back to nursery.

It was such a lovely first session, and the children had lots of fun in the forest. We’re looking forward to many more Forest School adventures over the coming year!
