Self Portraits - September 2026

The children have been doing brilliantly as they settle into their nursery routines. It has been lovely to see them becoming more confident, familiar with our daily routines and building new friendships.
In Garden Room, we have been exploring our Big Question and thinking about what makes each of us unique. As part of this, the children have been creating their own self-portraits, using marks to represent themselves.
The children are beginning to explore the different marks they can make, developing control and coordination as they experiment with lines, circles, shapes and patterns. As their confidence grows, these marks begin to take on meaning and purpose, with children using them to communicate their ideas and represent things that are important to them.
We loved seeing each child’s individual approach and how their marks developed into their own special representations of themselves.
