2022 Summer Term 1 - "What do I know about animals?"

For our first of the Summer terms in Rainbow Room, we have been investigating the question... "What do I know about animals?"

Each week the children have engaged in focus texts and rhymes during their small focused group times- which are linked to different animals and their habitats such as the farm and the jungle.

There has been a range of sensory, messy provocations available each week including tropical bird feather painting, searching with nets in the jungle swamp water and exploring animal fur textures and patterns in our sensory tuff trays. We had an extra special delivery of parcels from "THE ZOO" that the children were supported to explore and open, discovering what different animals were hidden inside!

During this term, we have also been learning about the traiditonal Japanese celebration of "Hanami" which is all about their unique cherry blossoms in bloom. The children made their own beautiful blossom art work using pink popcorn and explored different pink sensory bags. We also tasted some traditional Japanese picnic inspired snacks that are eaten during this time including crackers and dips, dumplings and watermelon slices. Happy Hanami!
