Garden Room - Big Question - Term 1.2 - Why are there so many leaves on the ground? 25/26
This half term, we're diving into the wonders of autumn with our big question: "Why are there so many leaves on the ground?"
In our family groups, we'll begin by exploring what the children already know about where all those colorful leaves come from. We'll also investigate what happens to the trees, what colours we can see in autumn (like orange, yellow, red, and brown!), why some animals might sleep in the autumn, and how we get ready for colder days.
We'll get hands-on with leaves – making beautiful pictures, trying out leaf printing with paints, and creating detailed rubbings. We'll use words like crunchy, bumpy, and smooth to describe them, and think about how we mix paints to create light and dark colours. We'll also be discussing what kind of clothes keep us warm in autumn, learning some special Autumn Makaton signs, and sharing an Autumn poem.
Get ready to explore Autumn festivals like Halloween and Bonfire Night too!
