Sunshine Room: End of Term Summary - Term 1.2 -Why Are There So Many Leaves On The Ground? 23/24

The children have been very busy this term learning all about the season 'autumn'. We have been exploring our big question:

Why are there so many leaves on the ground?

We have been on autumn walks in the forest and hunted for autumnal objects. We have used marks to represent the items that we found and brought items back to explore in class. The children used leaves to explore autumn colours and colour mixing as well as creating leaf rubbings, looking at the different shapes and sizes and looking at the details and veins within each leaf. We thought about woodland animals and animals that hibernate. We used our cooking skills to make autumn vegetable soup.
We have read many books including ‘A very helpful hedgehog’ and 'All about Autumn'. The books supported the childrens learning and helped the children to hear lots of new vocabulary
