SS: Term 1.1. What do I know about me ? End of Term

Our big question was "What do I know about me?"

The children participated in lots of different activities that encouraged them to create images of themselves using a variety of materials such as using the clay, transient art, making pizza faces with vegetables and designing their face with the wood work resources. This enabled the children to develop a greater understanding of their body parts and distinguish their similarities and differences between each other.

We enjoyed singing different songs that feature our body parts such as 'Heads, shoulders, knees and toes' and 'Tommy thumb'. We also explored how our bodies can move in different ways during outdoor play, time spent in robin Wood during forest school sessions and by using the gym equipment in the play court.

We explored paint when we took part in a body painting activity and developed our fine motor skills when we drew our own portraits and made Picasso pictures.

During hello time we looked at our family pictures and identified our family members.  Talking about things the children were familiar with supported  their speech and social skills as we listened to each other and took turns in conversations. We also looked at pictures of our family pets and identified the different sounds that they make.

We went on a local walk to explore the different houses in the area.  Once back at nursery we created our own houses using the Duplo.
