Garden Room CNY

Through out the week Garden room have listened to the story of the Chinese zodiac...’The Great Race’. They have talked about what a race is and why the animals had to have a race; to decide the order of the years for the Chinese Calender.

The children have learnt that this year (2021) is the year of the Ox. ‘Ox’ was a new word for lots of us, so was ‘Emperor’.

They watched videos of Chinese dragon dancing and had a Chinese banquet with noodles, prawn crackers and spring rolls. In family group timnes they made the spring rolls themselves by wrapping and rolling vegetables into little parcels.

As a culmination to the week, everyone did some big art outside using a new technique, pendulum painting- It was lots of fun!
