2022 - 2023 Term 2.2 What Can I Grow?

Class: Rainbow Room Year: 2022 - 2023

Our big question for this term has been, 'What Can I Grow?'

Our focus stories have been 'Jack and the Beanstalk, 'Oliver's Vegetables' and 'A Seed in Need'.

During this half term, the children have printed with vegetables, explored food provocations such as lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes and have also had the opportunity to weigh vegetables which was lots of fun.

We celebrated Easter by melting chocolate and making Easter nests and the children made marbled Easter cards for their family and added marks to represent their names.  We had a 'stay and play' session in Forest school with parents/carers; the children took part in an Easter egg hunt and toasted hot cross buns. A great time was had by all!

We had duckling eggs at nursery and the children watched the eggs hatch and then saw the ducklings grow; they were able to see them have a swim and also handle them gently.

Sean Perkins, children's author, visited nursery to share his new book with the children; he introduced the new characters to them and used musical instruments to represent events in the story.
