Diwali with Purvi - October 2025

Purvi helped us to learn all about Diwali, the Festival of Lights! We've discovered that Diwali is a special celebration enjoyed by many people around the world. We've talked about how families light up their homes with beautiful lamps and candles called diyas, and how they create colourful patterns called rangoli on their floors.

 

We also learned about the amazing story of Rama and Sita, which is a very important part of Diwali. We heard how Prince Rama and his wife Sita were sent away from their home, and how a naughty demon king named Ravana captured Sita. But brave Rama, with the help of his loyal friend Hanuman, fought courageously to rescue Sita and bring her back home. When Rama and Sita finally returned, everyone was so happy that they lit up their homes with thousands of diyas to show them the way and celebrate their safe return.

 

It's been so much fun learning about the traditions and the lovely stories behind this joyful festival. We have continued our learning next week creating our own rangoli patterns and making our own diya lamps.
