Forest School - Autumn 2023 - 2024

Class: Rainbow Room Year: 2023 - 2024

Forest school offers young children rich opportunities to promote their well-being, self-esteem and confidence in a natural environment. Forest experiences build upon the ways young children learn - being active, gaining first-hand experiences and use all their senses. As they explore and engage in their environment children are able to develop their own ideas, make decisions, solve problems and take calculated risks.

The development of Forest School began in 1993 and is based on a Scandinavian idea that recognises the importance of a child developing a relationship with nature. Having regular Forest School in our very own Robin Wood has many benefits.

Confidence grows
Social skills are enhanced
Communication improves
Motivation and concentration increases
Improved physical development including gross and fine motor skills
Increased understanding and knowledge of the natural environment

And most of all Forest School is enjoyable. Children can play, explore and discover.

Children from Rainbow Room have been enjoying spending time in Robin Wood and exploring all the different areas....fun has been had by all jumping and splashing in the muddy ditch, walking across the bridge and mixing in the mud kitchen.
