Life Cycles

Lesson: EYFS

Class: Garden Room Year: 2020 - 2021

This term ths children have been exploring life cycles. We have worked with Warrington Museum on a project all about life cycles, in particular, Butterfly life cycles.

We started the project with the arrival of our ceterpillars, this children had the opportunity to look at and discuss the caterpillars and what might happen to them. We then had a visit from Katy and Manda from the museum to share with us an interactive story of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar', look at some butterfly and moths under a magnificy glass and create some butterfly wing pattern art work using paints and a variety of printing objects.

We then used our prints to creat a giant butterfly to be displayed in the Orford Jubilee Hub!

the children then had another vistor. A dance teacher who spend time with the children teaching them some ne dances linked to the life cycle of a butterfly. This children engaged so well with this activity and were 'WOWED' by the butterflies big reveal at the end of the session.

The children have really enjoyed finding out about life cycles and we have seen lots fo fabulpus home learning too!
