Snowflakes and Penguins - Term 2.1

Class: Garden Room Year: 2022 - 2023

During Deb's the Potter's visit this half term she showed us how to make penguins using clay. We used moulding and coiling to create the bodies and then added wings and a beak. We used a pencil to poke in 2 holes for eyes.

We looked at pictures of penguins to work out the colours we need and where we needed to paint the colours.

Our penguins look amazing.

She also showed us how to create textures in our clay by using material doilies and a rolling pins to press the pattern into the clay.

We used cutters to cut out snowflake shapes before using some cold colour clay slip to paint our creations.

Lastly we pierced a hole in the top so that we can hang them to be displayed after they have been fired back at Deb's studio.
