2022 Summer Term 2 - How have we changed?

This half term we have been exploring how we change... As part of the childrens home learning the children were asked to bring in a photograph of themselves when they were a baby. We spent some time looking at the baby pictures and talked about how much we have all grown. Then we started to look at how different insects change and grow. We looked at books about frogspawn and how it changed into tadpoles and then evenutally into frogs! The children were fascinated by the lifecycle of a frog and we watched a timelapse video of frogspawn turning into a frog. Frankie said "it looks like jelly!" and Teddie said "I like frogs". Then the children were able to observe the metamorphis of a butterfly when some tiny caterpillars arrived in nursery. The caterpillars lived in a little pot that was full of food for them to eat We watched them each day as they grew a little bigger until eventually they built a house around themselves and stayed inside until they eventually nibbled and wiggled their way out as beautiful butterlies. When the butterflies were ready our driends in garden room took them outside to release them. The children have had so much fun learning all about changes and growth and it has sparked so many lovely interactions wtih the children and the grown ups.
