Campfires in Forest School!

Class: Rainbow Room Forest School Year: 2021 - 2022

Gradually our children in Rainbow Room have become more comfortable and accepting of the rules in Forest School when it comes to lighting the campfire. 

All of our children now happily sit with support on the special log chairs positioned safely around the fire pit and excitedly watch our Forest School leader Saadet use lots of natural resources to start the fire. The children enjoy watching the flicker of the flames and the smoke twirling up into the sky, and some of our children are beginning to use the Makaton sign for "Hot" or vocalising when they are around the fire. 

Together we enjoy having a range of "Campfire favourite" snacks including toasted marshmallows, buttery toast over the flames or making our own chocolate chip pancakes to toss in a pan over the fire.. and we know we are allowed to continue exploring the Forest when the water bucket is poured over the firepit to put it out.
