Celebrating Sukkot

Class: Garden Room Year: 2022 - 2023

Sukkot is a Jewish festival for harvest. Thanks is given during this time for shelter and food.

The children first watched a video to learn a llittle about why Jewish people celebrate Sukkot.

During their Forest school session the children helped to build a Sukkah which is a special booth or shelter that represents the booths the Jewish people built in the wilderness. Once we had made our shelters we sat in them to eat our snack as Jewsih people eat in their Sukkahs during Sukkot.

Often soup is eaten the Sukkah so the children also helped to prepare an Autumn vegetable soup by chopping the vegetables which they then ate for snack.
