Chinese New Year - February 2024!

Lesson: Understanding the World

Class: Garden Room Year: 2023 - 2024

The children have been learning all about Chinese New Year this week. We have shared the story of ‘The Great Race’ and talked about the animals and creatures of the zodiac calendar.

We learnt that red and yellow are lucky colours and Lunar New Year is celebrated through dragon and lion dancing, fireworks and fire crackers; gifts and cards as well as sharing good food with friends and family.

We have created lanterns and had a go at copying some special writing. Some of the children have enjoyed jigsaws on the big screen too. We also made spring rolls for our banquet.

Today we shared a special Chinese New Year banquet with our friends, we had noodles, fried rice, spring rolls and crackers.

We would like to wish all our families who celebrate, a very happy Lunar New Year!
