Forest School Term 1.1 2023

Class: Sunshine Room Forest School Year: 2023 - 2024

Our first half term together and our first time in the forest school has been so much fun! We have been learning some very important self help skills and have been practicing getting dressed into our forest school overalls. This can be a bit tricky but it's so important that we practice together so that as the children get older they can get dressed and undressed independently. The children have really enjoyed exploring the forest school and all of the exciting things they can do, from climbing trees, balancing, digging, bird watching, to leaf collecting there are so many opportunities to learn in our wonderful forest, as we encourage the children to explore the forest freely we have a few rules to help keep everyone safe which we have been working on embedding. Our rules are:

  • No picking or licking the berries and mushrooms that grow in our forest as they could make us sick.
  • Hold sticks up to the sky and down to the ground and if its an extra big stick hold it behind like a tail so that we dont get hurt.
  • We must have kind hands for our friends and the animals and insects that live in the forest.

We are so proud of how well the children have settled in their new environement and we love going each week to see what new and excting adventures we will have.
