They spent time exploring the text “The Great Race” which is a Chinese zodiac story explaining why each month of the year is a different animal in the Chinese culture. They also participated in an outdoor BIG ART project using red, gold and black paint.

-Sunshine room enjoyed dressing up in a variety of  traditional celebratory clothing, they learnt about using chopsticks to eat their food and watched interactive videos of traditional Chinese Dragon dancing festivities – using large drums and a range of musical instruments to recreate this.

-Rainbow room engaged in a Chinese food provocation of noodles, rice, prawn crackers and the ingredients to create spring rolls. On their mark making table they were able to create their own Chinese New Year calendars and red and gold paper Chinese lanterns using resources of their choice including paint, crayons, tissue paper, glitter and felt tip pens.
