This month our celebration is the Jewish Festival of Sukkot!

Sukkot is all about celebrating the natural environment, the changes of weather, recycling and sustainability.. and recognising that we should appreciate all the small things we have in life.

One of the main traditions of Sukkot is building a Sukkah, which is a den made from natural materials such as twigs, bamboo and leaves. Families in the Jewish community leave their every day homes to spend the week living in their Sukkah, often sleeping and eating all of their meals there.

This month the children have had the opportunity to engage in a range of Sukkot traditions including; making their own sukkah decorations from recycled materials, baking traditional challah bread, exploring citrus fruits and building their own sukkah dens!
